I am based in Leeds, West Yorkshire where I make autobiographical performance. Sometimes this looks like storytelling, a magic show, or a walk, and sometimes this looks like a conversation, two people on a date, a burlesque dance, a game show, a confessional.
I usually make my work alone, but more often than not I rely on the help of my audiences, my friends & my mum.
My work is low tech, rough in design and uses to its advantage my stereotype as the warm, working class northern English girl. I borrow often from British working class entertainment - 70's, 80's & 90's variety television, karaoke singers, club singers & seaside musicians.
I make work that attempts to look again at things that are often believed to be natural, normal, or ‘just the way it is’ – and thus accepted as unchangeable/unmovable.
Since late 2014 I have been developing what I would describe as a sex positive practice. For me this means that my practice is commited to sex positive feminism, the research and exploraion of sexuality, and the offer of sex positive ideas through artistic output.
Examples of where work has previously been presented include: Battersea Arts Centre, Transform Festival, Buzzcut Festival, Latitude Festival, Theatre Delicatessen, Yorkshire Dance, Compass Festival, Light Night Leeds, Live Art Bistro & Duckie.
Currently developing This Is Your Sex Life - see here for ongoing 2016 dates x
